Opening at WDW63 (Former Photomuseum). Rotterdam.“RAiR #1" brings together the work of twenty-one visual artists who were artists in residence in Rotterdam between 2003 and 2009.
The exhibition’s theme is how the visiting artist relates to the new environment. The exhibited artists’ working practices show two approaches. Some artists display an introvert approach, having used their residency as an opportunity to absorb themselves in their work in the studio. Others show a more extrovert approach, having sought interaction with their surroundings and produced work that responds to the social and cultural context.

My piece tries to group and put in relation different mediums and supports from actions and process that I started in Rotterdam. They has to do with the idea of property and the habitability or usability of the spaces as a way to find a personal stability and environment empathy that made me work and produce in a new context.
In that sense, “Floor Piece”, “Images From Ceiling” or the stop-motions and images from “SameShitDifferentDay” series tried to be a possession-taking of the place that was “my private ownership” during my residence.
